Car Reviews: Smart ForTwo |

I was on the road yesterday in my friend’s Ford Expedition when we pulled up alongside a Mercedes logo flashing Smart ForTwo. This was the first time I have seen one of these golf cart sized cars on the road. I honestly felt that we could have completely run over this baby-sized vehicle (only consumer complaints). I became more interested in why people would want one. I found out that they are rear wheel drive powered by a 3 cylinder, 1.3-liter engine that produces 71 hp and 69 lb-ft of torque. They only come in manual and have three different starting prices depending on if it is convertible or the most expensive “passion” model. Base price though starts at only 12,000 dollars.
The Smart Car will make it to 60 in 13 seconds and tops its 1654-pound body at 90 MPH. Their MPG is rated at 40. Pretty good. They also supposedly have a sturdy roll cage similar to something found in a race car to protect the occupants in the case of an accident. Car reviews are impressed with this vehicle. I am not so much impressed by the car reviews but the video above of a ForTwo smoking a Ferrari. Now this is what I am talking about. CAr Reviews have agreed that this is a great little guy to hit American streets. |
